Premiering before the masses of sports fans watching the NBA Finals this evening, Marvel Studios has unleashed its first teaser trailer for Black Panther. Starring Chadwick Boseman in the titular role, inner turmoil has befallen upon his nation of Wakanda and would could postulate that it’s not easy being king.
Apart from Andy Serkis’ pronunciation of the fictional African nation of Wakanda (actually pronounced Wah-kahn-dah), the entire trailer is absolutely flawless in introducing fans to the world of Black Panther. After the incredible work James Gunn has put into visualizing the galactic elements of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, along with Taika Waititi following his creative lead in what could be something spectacular with Thor: Ragnarok, Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther looks to continue this journey into building these worlds of pure imagination with intricate flare unique to the characters and story apart from the others.
There seems to be a lot of amazing practical effects, beautiful costume design, breathtaking set pieces, and characters who look unlike anything we’ve seen from the MCU up to this point. It’s still exciting and fresh now after fifteen movies in less than 10 years. And while the trailer shares very little about the conflict that King T’Challa must face within his own nation, there’s enough shown that if this is all we saw it would drive millions to theaters due to this teasers fantastic execution.

A teaser poster, featured below, was also unveiled. Showcases the King of Wakanda sitting in his throne, Chadwick Boseman’s head looks absolutely Photoshop’d on, but we can forgive it after the teaser proved nothing will stop this powerhouse of a movie.

Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. The film is set to debut in theaters on February 16, 2018.
